Dear all,
I would like to draw your attention to a conference which may be of
interest to subscribers.
LONG-TERM RESIDENCE AND CITIZENSHIP IN CONTEMPORARY BRITAIN
This one-day conference has been organised by Middlesex University and
Migration and Law Network. It explores the changing relationship between
migration, long-term residence, and citizenship in the United Kingdom.
Bringing together speakers from law and other disciplines, this
conference will address the implications of the new more restrictive
approach.
* Are these developments a significant departure in official thinking
about residence and citizenship?
* Can they be justified in terms of integration and social cohesion?
* What are the implications for equality and human rights for migrants?
* What should policy on long-term residence and naturalisation look like?
The conference will be of interest to academics and postgraduate
students from all disciplines concerned with migration, and to lawyers
and NGO staff with an interest in migration. The cost of the conference
is £60 or £30 for postgraduate students and unwaged.
More information can be found on the conference website at:
