I am going into my senior year and I feel like I learned a great deal in this class and see some things differently now after only a few short weeks. I knew that class was going to go very fast being online, but it was only three weeks of reading, assignment, reflections, and also gaining more respect and admiration for disabled persons than I had before taking this course.
I think that in the future I will obviously look at disabilities with a different insight and thought processes, but also stick up for them and treat them as I would want to be treated. I was raised to do this being a Christian and how my family acts and goes about their daily lives. But I feel that when you grow older, you sometimes get caught up with trying to fit in with the crowd, especially throughout high school and colleges years, and this leads a lot of us to stray away from their morals and doing the right thing.
After a year and a half of being a Sport Management major, I decided to switch my major to Business Marketing. I still am not completely sure what I want to do with that degree job wise, but I would possibly like to continue on to graduate school after I graduate this coming spring. I think that my field along with any field or major out there will benefit from the insight and knowledge gained and now appreciated at the tail end of this course.
I hope to possibly get into the business side of a health related field such as a hospital or rehabilitation center. Disabilities are much more common in regards to interacting with the disabled and also treating them with a job like I might try to pursue. So, I think that this course with help my respect for them to grow and my knowledge to disability history and hardships to be stronger than maybe another person applying for the same job I might want. I could hopefully have an upper hand or advantage over them if it was a close decision being made. Not only have I always wanted to help people, but to do it for people he need in the most would bring even more joy to me. This course has ultimately made me lean even more towards a career in the business side of the health field, because before it was just an idea. Now it is something I really want to strive to do.
