Dear All,
this year I have chaperoned 2 items of community concern onto the agenda
of the NAS-USNCCr, the National Academies of Sciences National Committee
for Crystallography.
http://sites.nationalacademies.org/pga/biso/IUCr/
Although the USNCCr has no executive power whatsoever, we can make
meaningful
policy recommendations that can affect and assist the entire community.
Last period we plugged the loophole of being able to retract a structure
without replacement while at the same time NOT retracting the associated
paper.
This year's items are
1) improving the EM data (at least map) deposition process (presented by
Filip)
2) the potentially wider impact of the Nature-UC boycott/feud on the
community
(presented by Charlie Carter)
The NAS/USNCCr meetings are twice a year, and I encourage suggestions
for subjects/concerns that affect the entire community and that can be
addressed by policy changes/suggestions at an advisory level.
Best regards, BR
