I agree, Peter. There has always been a fascination for lists in poetry. The assumption being that those included in the list are in some sense “better” than those who are not included. The culmination of this attitude is, I suppose, the poetry anthology. But to avoid this sparking a debate, I am willing to accept that everything I have just said is wrong.
