1 year post doctoral position at Eindhoven University of Technology in “Creative Design”
Applications are invited for a 1-year post doctoral position on the topic of “Creative design for innovation in science and technology” under the Marie Curie DESIRE initial training network.
Department of Industrial Design
The department of Industrial Design of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), has a strong emphasis on research focusing on the design of intelligent products, systems, services and networks. The position is situated within the group User-Centred Engineering (UCE). This group is focused on advancing the understanding of the user experience and developing innovative concepts for the interaction of humans with intelligent systems.
Tasks
This 1-year post doctoral position on the topic of “Creative design for innovation in science and technology” falls within the Marie Curie DESIRE initial training network.
DESIRE aims to make theoretical contributions to the field of creative design by bringing together expertise in human computer interaction, psychology, arts and design. The network aims to advance our understanding of creative design processes. This will lead to the elaboration of (i) theories and models of creative processes in general, and those involved in creative problem solving in particular, and (ii) a toolbox of methods, techniques and systems to support both creative design processes and creativity training.
The network places particular emphasis on the research training to be provided to successful candidates. Thus, each researcher will benefit from a wide ranging training program that will take advantage of both local and network wide activities, as well as of conferences and summer schools. For more information please see http://www.desirenetwork.eu/
You will contribute to the integration of network research across teams, topics and application domains:
To carry out research on a theme relevant to “Creative design for innovation in science and technology” as this is sketched out by the DESIRE network and its contributing PhD projects.
To strengthen thematic links within the DESIRE network by pursuing possible collaboration and joint work with PhD projects of the network (see http://www.desirenetwork.eu/ and especially projects 5 and 6 based at the TU/e and project 13 based at Philips).
To co-organize together with the supervising team an international conference on the topic of Creative Design (follow up to this year’s event organized at Copenhagen, www.desireconference.org).
Appointment and salary
This full-time appointment is for one year. As an employee of the university you will receive a competitive salary as well as a broad package of fringe benefits (including excellent sport facilities and child care). A salary is offered between € 2861 and €3315 gross per month (salary scale 10, CAO Dutch Universities) depending on your knowledge, skills and experience. Moreover 8% bonus share (holiday supplement) and 8.3% bonus share (end-of-year allowance) is provided annually. Assistance for finding accommodation can be given.
