The 5th IEEE European Conference on Smart Sensing and Context is a platform to discuss techniques, algorithms, architectures, protocols, and user aspects underlying context-aware smart surroundings and cooperating intelligent objects.
We invite the submission of original and unpublished work covering all areas related to distributed smart sensing, context processing, opportunistic information integration, context-aware actuators, and applications in the area.
EuroSSC 2010 topics of interest are:
Distributed smart sensing and context recognition
a.. Smart sensing: sensors inferring context and context-aware sensing
b.. Context-aware surroundings and infrastructures
c.. Distributed objects and wearables inferring context
d.. Algorithms and architectures for scalable context recognition
e.. Quality of Context (context uncertainty, unreliable sensing) Context processing
a.. Context reasoning, fusion, transformation, inference
b.. Context processing given Quality of Context
c.. Scalable context management and processing architectures
d.. Information aspects of context-aware sensor&actuator systems Opportunistic information and context processing
a.. Methods for opportunistic use of sensors for context awareness
b.. Context recognition given opportunistic sensing
c.. Principles, approaches and architectures
d.. Test-beds, evaluation methods and demonstrators Context-aware actuators, interaction methods, and human aspects

Important dates:
Full paper submission June 18
Posters and demo submission August 20
Notification of full paper acceptance August 6
Notification posters & demos August 27
Papers
Full papers should not exceed 14 pages in length (single-column LNCS format, templates available here). Technical Papers are peer reviewed. Accepted papers will be included in the Conference Proceedings published by Springer-Verlag in the series Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS). The proceedings will also be made available through the digital library.
Posters
Posters are solicited that present recent and on-going research by students.
The poster submissions should include a 2-page (LNCS format) description of the student's research. Accepted posters will be printed in the adjunct conference proceedings, which carry an own ISBN number. The poster will be presented at the conference poster and demonstration session.
Demonstrations
Proposals for research demonstrations are solicited. Demonstration description should not exceed 3 pages (LNCS format) and should include a description of the demonstration and equipment to be used. Demonstration abstracts will be published in the adjunct conference proceedings with an own ISBN number.
With our best wishes,
EuroSSC 2010 Organization Committee
