the hypocrisy arises PRECISELY BECAUSE Obama is calling upon BP to
clean up its mess WHILE REMAINING SILENT about environmental havoc
wreaked on/being wreaked on smaller, powerless, dependent countries
world-wide SINCE Obama took up office
1. by US military
2. by US companies
I'd respect Obama more if he said, 'Look what BP as done, BUT look what
America has also done - and is STILL doing. Let's ALL try to clean up
all the messes we have caused and find ways to minimise such disasters
in the future.'
American crimes against the environment: eg. deforestation, mining for
all sorts (not just oil) in economically unsustainable ways, medical
catastrophes, contamination of air, land and water, communities being
uprooted and placed in virtual reservations. The list is endless.
