There is also copper smelting debris of similar age from Tal-i-Iblis
in eastern
Iran. Lesley Frame completed a PhD at the University of Arizona in late
2009 on
this and later materials from the same site (up to 3500 BC), and this material
is now finding its way into press, I think also at JAS. The title of
her PhD is
"Technological Change in SOuthwestern Asia: Metallurgical Production
Styles and
Social Values during the Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age". If you want
