Mid July, at Vikingatider Archaeological Open Air Museum, member of EXARC, a bronze casting experiment you seldom see takes place: casting a church bell like it could have been in the Early Middle Ages. This is the first step towards creating a stave church like back in those days. A bell tower will be constructed as well in this long week.
You can come and join the activity, it is open to tourists, specialists and will be combined with a trade camp and a Viking market for which there are still places open.

Vikingatider is near Lund, Sweden and easily reachable from Copenhagen airport. Do you like to attend as a visitor? Please do, there are several budget hotels nearby and it is easily combined with other activities in the area. Ask us more information. Do you want to be a part of it with your craft and sell your products, which have to refer to the stave church and the 10th century of course? You may register yourself on line or by phone.

Camp fee for all the days: 500 SEK which equals about 50 euro. This includes a place at the camp, market fee (200 SEK), toilets, shower bath, firewood and water. You can get breakfast and a simple lunch at cost price.

The Viking Market will be 17 & 18 July, 11-17h. Do you want to join the market? Your craft and your products have to belong to the Viking times or early medieval period. Your garment and equipment have to refer to that period, too. No modern things. Market fee: 200 SEK / stand. In case you join in the whole trade camp, you don’t need to pay this fee.

You may register yourself for the camp or market by email or phone until the 5th July. Your registration is obligatory. In case of absence a debit of the fee will be made.

Programme
The trade camp is open 10 - 18 July, daily 11.00h – 17.00h

Bell casting Saturday 10th July, 18.00h – 24.00h
The bell casting happens within the dark hours of the day. A unique and magic event! Join us when the red-hot bronze is filling up the casting mould. This is an event itself, accompanied with tales, music and fire.

The Viking market 17th – 18th July, 11.00h – 17.00h
A swarming market for the whole family! There are trades men and crafts men, music and songs, tales and jesters, food and drink. Buy beautiful things and test the craft of the Vikings.

Consecration of the bell 18th July, 10.00h
The bell will be consecrated at an open-air spiritual service on Sunday.

Evenings Programme 10th – 18th July
There will be different entertainment to fill up the evenings during the week. Have a look at the separate programme on line.
