Research Assistant/Associate in Genetic Statistics / Genetic Epidemiology
MRC Centre for Causal Analyses in Translational Epidemiology, Department
of Social Medicine, University of Bristol (Ref no:15524)
We seek an able statistician or similarly qualified individual to
contribute to analyses of genetic variants in relation to clinical and
biomedical traits. The studies involve several large scale cohort studies
co-ordinated in the MRC Centre (CAiTE)/Department of Social Medicine. The
research is focused on molecular pathways influencing insulin resistance
and will involve a mix of statistical association techniques,
meta-analysis and some genome-level bioinformatics. The postholder will be
expected to lead this work from analyses through to conference
presentation and papers.
The appointment will be full-time on Grade I or J (depending on
qualifications and level of experience) of the University’s new
grade structure and is offered for 12 months. While funding for this post
is available for 12 months, there may be opportunities for outstanding
candidates to continue working in the Department beyond this time. The
post is ideally suited to someone with a PhD in medical statistics or
genetic epidemiology, although good candidates without a PhD will also be
considered.
Grade : Research assistant/associate; single spline I or J (depending on
experience)
Salary : £29,853 to £33,600 depending upon background and previous experience
