Introduction to modelling in R, 3-4 November 2010, presented by Paul Baxter and Andrew Blance
This course introduces participants to the R environment for statistical computing. Day 1 of the course focuses on entering, working with and visualising data in R. Day 2 focuses on regression modelling in R, including linear, general linear, logistic and survival models. Participants can either register for both days, or for either Day 1 or Day 2, depending on their background and interests.
For: users of statistics and statisticians in any field who wish to use R for statistical analysis.
Presenting Data, 11 November 2010, presented by Ed Swires-Hennessy

For: anyone who is involved in communicating statistics or the message contained in them. It covers the interpretation of information by non-statisticians, the reporting on data – of any description – within organisations, and the presentation of a message to specific communities and the general public
Multilevel modelling, 25-26 November 2010, presented by Harvey Goldstein and George Leckie

The course will be based around theoretical sessions followed by “hands-on” sessions illustrating the theoretical concepts. The practical sessions will use the MLwiN software package.
For: statisticians and quantitative researchers with an interest in the analysis of hierarchically structured data. Previous participants have included university researchers from the social sciences, medicine and public health and government statisticians.
Meta analysis, 9-10 December, presented by Stephen Senn
This course will be invaluable for all those involved in meta-analysis of pharmaceuticals, whether as a consumer or producer, or working for sponsor, regulator, contract research organisation or in academia.
For: medical statisticians and other numerically minded life-scientists, especially those working in the pharmaceutical industry.
