The Young Statisticians Section (YSS) of the Royal Statistical Society are
currently organising a “Getting on in Statistics” to take place on June 25th. This promises to be an exciting and informative event for career young
statisticians (i.e. those in the first 10 years of their career), focusing
on career progression. Please see below for more detailed information.
“Getting on in Statistics”
25th June 2010 from 10am – 6:30pm
at the Royal Statistical Society, 12 Errol St, EC1Y 8LX
This “Getting on in Statistics” Day is intended for anyone in the first 10
years of their statistical career. Whether you are looking to develop your
career or are still studying, this event will give you further options. It
will feature a range of statistical fields with speakers from both industry
and academia. The program includes organisations from the following sectors:
• Finance
• Actuarial
• Risk and Betting
• Manufacturing and Quality Control
• Medical
• Government
Strong emphasis will be placed on continuing professional development
through a plenary session which focuses on the pathway towards Chartered
Statistician status. There are networking opportunities over lunch as well
as a wine and drinks reception in the evening.
Speakers to include; Deutsche Bank, Bank of England, Hymans Robertson, Smart
Odds, Rolls-Royce Defence Aerospace, Procter & Gamble, Nottingham Business
School, Leeds Clinical Trials Unit, GlaxoSmithKline, Imperial College,
Department for International Development, NatCen and more.
The overall aim of the afternoon is to highlight career and development
opportunities for young statisticians. So please come along and explore the
