I found the interesting thing to be that neither the printed nor the
internet facsimiles convey the impact the originals have - in reproduction
they look quaintly interesting, in real presence they are so workede, so
drenched with colour and movement, one almost has to take a step back from
the case, overwhelmed by the intensity.
It's quite interesting to look closely at the early manuscript books of
Gower too - a writer I never thought I'd find a light in - it is a presence
of historical interest only - why writing of that sort appealed to its
audience.
