Having just seen Mark give the first of his two readings here (at 9.30 this
morning - the earliest he'd ever given a reading and the earliest I'd ever
been to one - a heroic acheivement given that diplomatic relations between
most poets and early morning are somewhat on a par with that of cats and
water) I'd recommend a) anyone who is the vicinity of any reading he gives
on 'The Whole Island' to - whatever you do, don't miss it and b) buy The
Book - it's a marvel - I held off deliberately until today before getting a
copy - and, well, it takes me back to why I took to poetry in the first
place.
PS
Mark isn't checking the List while on tour so he has no idea this glowing
report has been posted - so no collusion ok?!
He reads again today at 4.45. IN the University Film Theatre at the base of
the Attenborough tower (named after Dickie and David's dad, btw) Anyone in
the vicinity ...?
