Not sure what thoughts you want but here are mine
Someone with depression is likely to feel that even seemingly minor
ailments/events can exacerbate the way they feel.
Someone with depression is likely to be more prey to infections etc as
their immune system may be compromised
Someone with diabetes may well be more affected by seemingly minor
infections and/or render control of their diabetes more difficult
However - this MAY be the case but dont think that anyone can say that
it definitively IS the case. If this is being argued as some form of
mitigation against management procedures on attendance issues the only
thing that OH can say is that it is possible - how probable it is, is I
believe arguable

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Sickness Absence
Hi All,
I'd be grateful if the list would provide me with some thoughts on the
following:
HR about to undertake absence review on a member of staff who has
triggered the absence policy, reasons for absence are vertigo, wisdom
tooth removal and dysmenorrhoea, all of which the individual states have
worsened/exacerbated her depression.
We also had a previous review where the individual stated that because
of her depression she was more susceptible to sore throats/colds etc.
Additionally a lady with Diabetes who was off sick with several
unrelated illnesses who stated they were all linked to her diabetes.
Many thanks as always for your advice.
Kind regards
Nicky
