Part time secondment opportunity for a Principal Research Fellow http://www.netscc.ac.uk/job_vacancies/
NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre, School of Medicine, University of Southampton Science Park
We wish to recruit a Principal Research Fellow to lead and develop our in-house research activities. This is the most senior dedicated research post within NETSCC. This secondment is a valuable opportunity for academics and researchers and their institutions to gain insight into and direct experience of NIHR research funding. NETSCC has a growing portfolio of over 800 funded projects, offering a unique opportunity for the applicant to research and publish work using this data source. It will provide the successful applicant with excellent opportunities to further their career in the study of evaluation research, to develop a growing team of researchers, and to lead the research activities of a key health research commissioner.
As an experienced researcher with a strong publication record the post-holder will lead research activities within NETSCC. The successful candidate will have previous experience of managing, supervising and developing a team of researchers. The responsibilities of this post will focus on: leading the research activities of the NETSCC Research on Research programme; supporting, mentoring and developing a team of researchers; and contributing to the profile of NETSCC as an internationally significant research management organisation.
NETSCC (the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre) is part of the University of Southampton and was established in April 2008. NETSCC manages 5 evaluation research programmes on behalf of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The centre was created to meet challenges arising from the national research strategy Best Research for Best Health and the Government’s decision to increase the joint health research fund to £1.7 billion by 2010. This is an exciting time for NETSCC, with rapid expansion of current research programmes as well as establishing new programmes.
This post is based at the University of Southampton and offered as a secondment for two and a half days a week. More information about the programmes we manage, and NETSCC can be found on our website. http://www.netscc.ac.uk
