An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced data analyst to join the NHS Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Screening Programme team, which is part of the Fetal, Maternal and Child Health subgroup (FMCH) of the UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC). The Programme is hosted by King's College London, which is committed to promoting excellence in teaching, learning and research. The post-holder will be mainly responsible for collecting and collating data on babies with sickle cell disease to provide estimates of mortality and morbidity. The post holder will also be responsible for analysing data on prenatal diagnosis, antenatal and newborn screening and clinical outcomes.
Working with the Clinical Data and IT Development Manager you will also develop arrangements for monitoring the overall aims and objectives of the Programme against specified standards for the programme as a whole, and for the specific aspects of antenatal and newborn screening.
You will have a strong background in statistical and epidemiological data analysis, with experience of database management at an advanced level. Excellent organisational and communication skills are essential to this post. The ability to prioritise your workload, multi task and work to tight deadlines, and to work flexibly to meet the varied demands of this busy role are a requirement.
The appointment will be made within the Grade 5 scale, £28,074 to £32,176 per annum, inclusive of £2,323 London Allowance per annum. Benefits include an annual season ticket loan scheme and a final salary superannuation scheme.
This post is fixed term until 1 August 2011 with a possibility of extension and is full-time.
