Nature Live Science Communicator 2 Month FTA
Role Description
Salary: £26,000 per annum plus benefits
Contract: 1 X 2.5 month fixed term appointment (part time 3 days a week available)

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Nature Live team in the Department for Learning programming and delivering events in the new Attenborough Studio and elsewhere in the Museum including our successful evening programmes.
Nature Live Science Communicators are responsible for producing high quality science communication events tailored to the learning agendas of visiting adults, school students and families. You will be required to ensure that there is skilled and professional mediation between the scientists and the public audience to encourage questions, dialogue and debate.
You will work with individual speakers, scientists and others, to ensure that speakers are aware of how the studio works and that media and resource requirements are developed in advance. You will work closely with the Marketing and Editorial teams to effectively promote the programme and evaluate the outcomes to achieve continuous improvement and development.
To be successful you must have experience of planning and delivering science communications events in different formats to families, school students and adults and a thorough knowledge and awareness of science communication issues. A first degree or equivalent in natural sciences is also essential.
Role Requirements
* a first degree in natural sciences (or equivalent)
* experience of facilitating science related events with families, KS4 & 5 school students and adults
* awareness of the Science National Curriculum
* proven ability to plan and manage events
* experience of providing interface between scientists and members of the public
* good awareness of new media and live broadcast
