Subject: FW: World Heritage Site Asset Stolen
Hi
Keeping OK? I’ve forwarded the following to the Stephenson Locomotive
Society and to Geoff S-G at Early Rail. You mentioned your interest in
such things and I wonder if you have any friends to whom this e-mail
couldgo. There must be a market for these things. Any help would be
appreciated by those concerned.
Regards
Phil

Subject: World Heritage Site Asset Stolen
Hello All,
We have lost one of our World Heritage Site assets - the granite
Liskeard & Caradon Railway 8 mile post, which was formerly in Highwood,
has been dragged down the bank from the railway bed and stolen. This
has happened sometime during May, as I walked past it towards the end of
April. I contacted The Duchy of Cornwall on Monday 10th, and they
confirmed that they had not sanctioned its removal. They asked me to
contact the Police, which I did on Tuesday, but was told The Duchy of
Cornwall, as landowners had to report it. I also on Tuesday uploaded a
picture and a letter to theCornish Times website, but unfortunately this
has not been printed, in this issue. I have also mentioned the fact that
it has been stolen to Police Sergeant Williams who has said she will
inform the local officers. I hope that you can circulate these pictures,
as someone may recognise it before it disappears. Hopefully the letter
will be printed in the Cornish Times next issue, and this important
piece of Liskeard, Looe and Caradon Hill’s cultural heritage will be
returned.
Regards,
Iain Rowe
