Post: Programme Head, Nuffield Science Bursaries (12 Month Maternity Contract)
Salary range: £45-£50K
The Nuffield Foundation is looking for a person with experience in science education enrichment and enhancement to take the lead on the highly regarded Nuffield Science Bursaries Programme for Schools & Colleges and the Undergraduate Research Bursaries Programme while the current Programme Head is taking maternity leave.
Working with a small central team the core of the work will be to oversee the successful implementation of both bursary programmes during 2010-2011. Activities will also include planning and contributing to the independent review and future development of both bursary programmes and working in partnership with a range of organisations from Higher Education, Schools and Colleges and other key stakeholders. The person will also contribute to the Foundation's wider work on science and maths capacity building.
Understanding of post-16 Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education and transition into Higher Education is essential, along with experience of working with the wider STEM community.
This London-based maternity contract is from 1st September 2010, or before if possible. Ideally we are looking to make a full time appointment, but will consider applications from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 3 days a week), contingent upon experience. We are willing to consider secondments. Standard office hours are Monday- Friday, 9:30am- 5.30pm although there is some scope for flexibility in working hours and remote working.
