As a former resident of the US, I can recommend, strongly,
the Exploratorium in San Francisco. And, if you get to the
beautiful desert Southwest of the US, check out the
Fractal Foundation in Albuquerque New Mexico. They run a
strong maths educational programme in a state that is
amongst the lowest in education in the country. Plus they
have a truly unique plaentarium show, First Friday
Fractals, that is amazingly popular. Obviously the first
Friday of each month, when there are 3 or 4 shows. Try
www.fractalfoundqtion.org.
Enjoy the trip.
