HE STEM Programme Manager - Fixed term 8 month maternity cover contract or secondment
Salary: £33,000 - £35,000 (pro rata)pa
The Institute of Physics is looking for a manager to work on the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) funded Programme which aims to develop a model for an all-encompassing, sustainable programme of activity for the science, technology, engineering and mathematical (STEM) communities, covering the key HE themes of widening participation, employer engagement and the higher level skills agenda. The HE STEM Programme works to support Higher Education Institutions and encourage them to explore new approaches to recruiting students and delivering programmes of study within the STEM disciplines, by working with six partner universities who will initiate and develop the activities. The successful candidate will manage and lead the Institute’s contribution to the national HE STEM Programme and ensure the delivery of activities defined within the Institute’s operational plan.
We are looking for someone who has experience of working within a physics or physics education environment; knowledge and understanding of the issues relating to widening participation within higher education; able to prioritise effectively; work under pressure and be comfortable working with people at all levels, including senior staff within universities and other key stakeholders.
