Actually, even the most punctilious of Scot Nats (well, maybe) wouldn't any
longer insist on the Elizabeth I and II form (though I believe there was
some commotion when the ERII red pillarboxes first appeared in 1953 was it)?
On the other hand, I do still tend to make a point of the "James VI and I"
form of words (in that order) since he was Jimmy the Sixth *before he was
James the One.
I look on it as a consciousness-raising exercise.
