Please join us at the University of Leeds for:
Boccaccio Symposium and Workshop
Friday, 25th of June 2010, 1pm to 5pm
The aims of this event are twofold:
1) To gather together scholars working on Boccaccio in the UK to
consider aspects of Boccaccio’s life and work.
2) To establish and strengthen connections between those in the UK
whose research includes Boccaccio, with a view to possible future
collaborations or events in the lead up to the 700th anniversary of
Boccaccio’s birth in 2013.
Presentations and discussions will be followed by a workshop run by Dr
Guyda Armstrong (Manchester) and Dr Rhiannon Daniels (Leeds).
The aim of the workshop will be to explore a re-conceptualization of
Boccaccio using recent critical work in medieval studies, in
anticipation of events planned for the anniversary of Boccaccio's
birth. Preparatory readings for the workshop will be indicated to
interested participants, but we also welcome suggestions of texts or
questions which will stimulate debate. If you have any suggestions
regarding texts for the workshop, please email Cristina Ríos
