I've just reviewed this book for the BBC Magazine - and said it is dreadful - certainly not for anyone who already has any knowledge of mining.

I don't think the issue of the 'Britannia Mine' in Cornwall was
resolved but I'm now reviewing the book and it doesn't mention a mine
of that name. The disaster referred to was at that at the Levant.
Oxford University Press would appear to have corrupted information on
their web page promoting the book.
