I suspect that the new government may be too busy with other things to worry much about ICT policy for some time. However, I’d certainly be interested in having a meeting on this.
All the best, Julian.

Some members of the list will already know about this forthcoming meeting, but others may not - and may be interested in going to this event.
There's also been some interest in having a policy meeting in response to Christian Fuchs' long email about ICT policies post election. Could people say whether they would be interested in taking this forward?
Jonathan (Breckon) - might it be something you/the AHRC would be interested in?

Subject: Re-shaping Today's BBC for Tomorrow - BBC Chairman Speaks to Licence Fee Payers
Dear Colleague
I can now confirm the arrangements for the VLV Evening Seminar with Sir
Michael Lyons, Chairman of the BBC Trust, on Wednesday, 30th June from
6.30 - 7.45pm. It will be held at the Society of Antiquaries,
Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1. Coffee and tea will be
available from 6.15pm.
"Re-shaping the BBC for Tomorrow" is the title for Sir Michael's
address. Patrick Barwise, Professor Emeritus, Management and
Marketing, The London Business School, will be in the chair.
Last year the BBC Trust challenged the Director General to carry out a
full-scale review of the BBC's strategy, to decide what the future
direction of the Corporation ought to be. The Trust is currently
consulting on the Director General's proposals with a view to publishing
interim conclusions in the summer. The consultation can be found on the
Trust's website: WWW.BBC.co.uk/BBCTrust The deadline for submissions is
25th May. We urge everyone who cares about the future of the BBC and
the quality of British broadcasting to respond.
On 30th June, Sir Michael will use the speech to set out the latest
developments as he considers the challenges the BBC faces in a rapidly
shifting economic and political environment. In particular, he will
consider the appropriate scope and role of the BBC and its place in
British civic life.
Sir Michael said: "The BBC needs to constantly evolve to meet public
expectations. The Trust's role is to guide the BBC through this process
and ensure an end result that really delivers for licence fee payers.
"As the Trust begins to formulate emerging conclusions through the
Strategy Review, this event provides an opportunity to share latest
thinking and for me to hear from licence fee payers what they think the
BBC's priorities should be."
VLV welcomes Sir Michael's agreement to speak and take questions at this
critically important time. The BBC, and the public service values it
embodies, play a vital part in British democracy and culture. It should
set a standard to which all others aspire. Any diminution in that role
or the BBC's ability to fulfill it, would impoverish the quality both of
our national life and the lives of individual licence fee payers.
Professor Barwise is a distinguished economist with a great
understanding of the financial, technical and social pressures now
driving change in the media landscape. We look forward to a lively and
informative evening.
I attach an application form for you to complete. Please pass it on to
