What does this course tell you? This course will cover all the common
problems you encounter in authentication and access control, will explain
how and why they impact on library licences and will give you some insight
into how to solve them. It will tell you about the ways in which librarians
are trying to help researchers find content and explains why publishers need
to react to those initiatives. Ultimately this course helps sales,
marketing and customer services people (as well as publishing, production
and editorial staff responsible for solving these issues) understand
e-journal technology from a very practical and business-centric point of
view and will allow them have more meaningful discussions with their
customers.
The course covers authentication and access control, routes to content, user
behaviour, and library technology as well as taking a look into what the
future holds. Previous delegates have included representatives from
commercial and society publishers, university presses, online journal
hosting organisations, library technology suppliers, and other
intermediaries.
Simon Inger and Tracy Gardner have been running their courses on this topic
for 7 years and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to them.
