Research Associate in Mantle Geodynamics and Geochemistry
School of Earth and Ocean Sciences, Cardiff University, UK
You will work on a mantle geodynamics project based at Cardiff University with the geochemistry aspects led by the Universities of Bristol and Oxford, which you will visit.
Project
The aim of the project will be to use spherical thermo-compositional convection models constrained by geophysics and geochemistry to significantly improve our understanding of mantle convection. Dr. Davies (Cardiff University) will lead the computational part of the project, while Dr. Porcelli (University of Oxford) will lead the interpretation of the inert gases and Professor Elliott (University of Bristol) will lead the interpretation of the radiogenic isotopes. This project is fully funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (UK) and will utilise the UK National Supercomputer HECToR for the large-scale computations. We are looking for a motivated scientist with experience and a track record of computational modelling and programming, a PhD or equivalent in a related subject and, preferably a demonstrable publication record in leading journals in the field.
This post is fixed-term for 3 years.
