A one day interdisciplinary colloquium examining urban green space for
post-graduates and early career researchers.
Hosted by CUDEM (Centre for Urban Development and Environmental
Management) at the School of the Built Environment, Leeds Metropolitan
University

This highly interdisciplinary postgraduate colloquium seeks to provide
an opportunity for postgraduate students and early career researchers
to explore and exchange ideas whilst networking with others working in
similar fields. The theme of Urban Green Space is intended to attract
individuals working in a variety of disciplines across social sciences
and humanities, as well as from practice-based disciplines such as
urban planning and design and architecture.
Key note speakers include James Evans (University of Manchester)
presenting on the theme of green space and the politics of climate
change and Kevin Thomas (Leeds Metropolitan University) presenting on
Urban fringe green space paying its way: recent developments in urban
green space discourses
Papers will be presented by postgraduate research students and staff.
Themes will include: climate change, food, young people, health, green
infrastructure, security, conflict, parks, neighbourhood, social
exclusion, social justice, regeneration, energy consumption, green
roofs, urban gardening and well being amongst others.
Attendees are welcome to display posters at the conference. Please
inform the conference organisers if you wish to do this.
In order to cover costs, there will be a charge of £10 to attend.
