I agree. In some cases that I know of EHOs also do the job of the CLO as
there is limited funding and they are not getting very much money at all as
the LA have a poor perception of CL. However, I don't subscribe to the fact
that you should get paid more because you have an MSc, that equally (along
with the CIEH tick list) doesn't mean you can do a job well. I know someone
doing a MSc in Env Science and is currently being taught the wrong info on
CL, still somewhere in 2003 for them.... Woo!
Skills and application are two very different things.

I have been doing a more than competent job in this field for over 10
years. I don't need the professionally insecure CIEH to outline what
competencies I require thank you very much. I wonder if there is any
mention of the fact that EHO's (mostly qualified to Diploma in
Environmental Health level) are often paid more than CLO's who are more
experienced and qualified to masters level and beyond? I think not.

Not sure why we have not been consulted directly however, here is the
consultation on the skills required to carry out our duties as CLO's
which ends on the 31st July.
I understand that this was posted on the LACORS web site but it has now
been removed ....not sure why.
