Hi,
I have received this request for information from CHESS colleagues ... I'll collate your responses at the start of next week. The colleague in a higher education institution is looking for ideas of other types of support or adjustments which might be appropriate for a lipreader (non-signer) on a counselling supervision course...
Sheenagh
Dear Sheena
Thanks for our brief conversation. The student has applied for post grad counselling supervision course and disclosed a hearing loss stating main form of communication as lip reading.
I am in the process of arranging a meeting with the student and the department to discuss reasonable adjustments.
The following form parts of the course:
Group discussion
Potential reasonable adjustment note taker typing - confidentiality statement amended.
Work in triads - with following roles - supervisor - counsellor and observer
potential reasonable adjustments discussed include seating arrangements and use of a 4 person if observer role difficult to perform.
Production of a tape audio or video.
Critiqued extracts of tape usually audio could be video.
Potential reasonable adjustments for the above transcription again this would need writing into contract.
Fine with this going to CHESS if anonymised.
Thanks in advance.
