Deadline is in a few days!

iHCI 2010, "Crossing Boundaries", September 2-3 2010, Dublin City University

Please note that the deadline for submission of Full Papers has been extended to MAY 17 2010 due to many requests

http://www.clarity-centre.org/iHCI2010/index.html

iHCI 2010, the Fourth Irish Human-Computer Interaction Conference will take place at Dublin City University on September 2-3 2010. iHCI 2010 will follow on from the great success of the past three conference events, 2009 at Trinity College Dublin, 2008 at the University College Cork and 2007 in the University of Limerick. iHCI 2010 will be hosted by Dublin City University and supported by CLARITY: Centre for Sensor Web Technologies.

*iHCI 2010 Theme

To reflect both the growth of the Irish HCI community, and the broad range of research being conducted within Ireland, the theme of this year's conference will be 'Crossing Boundaries'. We welcome submissions exploring, discussing or challenging the many boundaries within our community today: the traditional boundaries between academia and industry; the physical boundaries which influence our work; the boundaries between creativity and code; the boundaries between research and real-world use; and the boundaries between 'traditional' desktop systems and mobile, tangible, or ambient interaction; and pushing boundaries into novel or challenging spaces.
We also welcome contributions that include, but are not limited to, any of the following topics of interest:
- Accessibility & Universal Access
- Case studies
- Collaboration, groupware and social networks
- Context-aware systems
- Ethnographical and field studies
- Evaluation methods and frameworks
- Group interaction, collaboration and social media
- Human-centred design practices, tools and methods
- HCI Theory and Practice
- Information visualization and presentation techniques
- Novel user interfaces, interaction techniques and technologies
- Mobile, Ambient, Augmented or Tangible HCI
- Multimodal interaction and interfaces
- Interaction in multi-cultural settings
- Ubiquitous, pervasive, and mobile interaction
- User-centred design
- Usability investigation and evaluation
- Wearable computing, smart clothes, new devices and sensors

The iHCI 2010 Programme will follow the theme by including an Industry Session (Co-Ordinated by the IxDA Dublin and Limerick Groups), a Student Forum, a Poster and Demos Showcase. We are also delighted to announce that Professor Richard Harper (Microsoft Research Cambridge) will deliver the opening keynote address.

* iHCI 2010 Submissions

- Long Papers: max 8 pages

- Short Papers (ideal to report work-in-progress or ideas that are not fully developed): max 4 pages

- Student Forum: 4 pages overview of current student research

- Posters/Demos Showcase: 2 pages poster or demo overview

Contributions that advance the theory or practice of any aspect of HCI are welcome. This includes for example theoretical papers, practice case studies, empirical evaluation and methodological work. The conference proceedings will contain all papers (Full, Short, Student, Demos and Poster overviews) and will be published with an ISBN. This will also be made available online.

Submissions should report original work that has not been previously published, or may build on work reported elsewhere providing it is substantially different. Further guidelines, including submissions methods, formatting and templates, can be found on the iHCI website, in the "Authors" section.

* iHCI 2010 Important Dates

- Short/Full papers due: 17th May, 2010 (EXTENDED DEADLINE)

- Other submissions (Student Forum/Posters/Demos): 28th May, 2010

- Author notification: 16th of June, 2010

- Camera Ready papers due: July 30th, 2010

- Conference: 2nd-3rd September 2010

It is not required that you register an abstract first. However, the submission system will allow you to register a submission and then go back to upload a file at a later date. Any of you who would like to do so are most welcome to log on to the system in advance of the new deadline.
