FutureEverything 2010
Art Programme

From a Roman feast in a luxury hotel lobby to light sculptures toying with
architectural form, urban interventions by leading figures in visual
culture, and inspirational approaches to visualising data, the
FutureEverything 2010 art programme continues FutureEverything's
pioneering approach to contemporary art and the digital world.

FutureEverything features more than 100 events, the art highlights include..


SERENDIPITY CITY EXHIBITION
Our main exhibition space, at The Hive, features architecture-inspired
art, a curated selection of city-drifting mobile apps, jaw-dropping data
visualisations and a selection of FutureEverything 2010 Award nominees,
among 20 international artists and 5 world premieres and commissions.

AGENTS OF CHANGE 0.3 - AGENTS OF CHANGE
The contemporary art collective will work in secret and at a monumental
scale, transforming an urban location in Manchester with spray cans, paint
and perception-altering art, visible only over a video link, culminating
in a public opening on the last day of the festival.

CU EXHIBITION
Curatorial collective Contents May Vary instigate dialogues on the
boundaries between visual art and media art. In collaboration with
Castlefield Gallery.

UNLIMITED CONNECTIVITY
Artworks out and about in the streets of Manchester and New York, and a
living room in which someone on the other side of the globe appears in the
chair next to you.

THE FEAST OF TRIMALCHIO - AES+F
A multiple screen experience, transposing Roman myths to the setting of a
modern-day luxury hotel.

REMEMBER ME - TOTEM
Objects donated to Oxfam, tagged with RFID and QR tags, once triggered,
replay the stories of their previous owners, evoking ghosts of the past.

MOMENTS OF BREATHING WITH YOU - HAFSAH NAIB
Cornerhouse and FutureEverything are pleased to present
artist-in-residence Hafsah Naib, within the exhibition Contemporary Art
Iraq.

EASTMAN CHENG WORKSHOP
Chinese Arts Centre and FutureEverything present Hong Kong-based artist
Eastman Cheng for an exchange intervention where visitors and conference
delegates are invited to bring items that they connect with their city.

ART & MEDIA CONVERSATION EVENT
Bringing artists, gallerists and curators to the table, this series of
short presentations and related open discussions explore the relationships
and boundaries between media art and visual art. Chaired by Charlie Gere,
with speakers including Karen Guthrie, Adam Sutherland, Francis McKee and
Kypros Kyprianou.

ART LAUNCHES AND LATE NIGHT OPENINGS
FutureEverything opens on Wednesday 12 May, with an evening of public
opening events. Join us at the Art Launch at the Serendipity City
exhibition followed by the Music Launch at the Kro2 music hub. The Cu
Launch takes place on Thursday 13 May.

FINISSAGE AND FAB LAB PRESENTATION
To elegantly wrap up an awesome festival we'll be raising a drink and
discussing the art programme at a chic finissage event. Following a series
of artist residencies, we'll be presenting the results of the Fab Lab Art
Challenge.
