Research Fellow in Statistical Epidemiology in Oral Health
Salary £30747 to £35646 pa - Grade 7

Plymouth has a national and international research profile and has been hailed as one of the major winners for government funding for research for 2009/10 and thanks to a successful RAE in 2008 Plymouth has seen an increase of £4.9 million (125%) in this type of funding. Plymouth is keen to strengthen collaborations with the Peninsula Dental School, an organisation which has considerable research ambitions and which is committed to undertake high quality research in oral health. To promote collaborations Plymouth has committed to provide £500,000 funding to pursue three important areas of research within the School.
As a result of this substantial investment, Plymouth is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow in Statistical Epidemiology in Oral Health within its Faculty of Science and Technology. You will be based in the School of Computing and Mathematics where you will contribute to research in statistical models for dental health. You will be required to review existing methodology applied in the field and formulate statistical models which capture the spatial and temporal structure of the data. You must have a first degree or equivalent experience in Mathematics or Statistics, a PhD in statistics and experience in statistical computing using R, S-PLUS or similar software.
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis for three years.
