I've got a query I can't find an answer to and am hoping someone can
help:
If you have a patient with ophthalmic division shingles, would you
refer to an opthalmologist irrespective of anterior corneal symptoms?
If they are symptom free (eg no pain on blinking, no corneal
injection) what is the chance of them having an ulcer on the cornea?
I know the stats around the chance of having ulcer with or without
nasociliary nerve involvement, but surely they would have pain in the
eye if an ulcer is present. Has anyone seen a painless corneal ulcer
from zoster?
Everything I read says refer, but is this a waste of time?
Thanks
Paul Redman
