Hi all,
can anyone help on this one. I have a gent who had an M.I. 8 years ago, 2002.
He works in manufacturing. Since then and before my time he has had restrictions
of 'light duties' which it seems he decides what he can do (according to the manager that
has requested review). He had no stenting done at the time, or other invasive cardiac
management. He has type 2 diabetes , well controlled. He is followed up yearly regarding his diabetes.
I recently saw him and advised that he was fit for full duties which would include the
handling of components up to 7 kg. He is 52 years of age and does not restrict himself in anything socially.
A recent GP report only commented on the fact that he had an M.I and was a diabetic and specifically
stated that he (GP) was not qualified to advise on work place issues and that the gent had reported breathlessness
handling the above components, which has not been reported to me.
The GP recommended an OHP review. I am concerned that these restrictions are historical
and have been left in place for 8 years and is only now being looked at by his managers.
First time i saw him was 3 weeks ago, following which i requested a GP report to confirm if
there were any known current problems that would prevent him carrying out a full range of duties.
I work at a stand alone post and would appreciate any advice on how to advise further.
many thanks in anticipation.
