The Department of Information Science<http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/dis/> at Loughborough University is pleased to be able to offer a PhD research studentship for three years commencing 1st October 2010. This award, which is available for UK/EU applicants, will be offered on a fully-funded basis. The UK/EU university tuition fee will be paid and recipients will also receive a tax-free stipend at the EPSRC standard rate (£13290 in 2009/10). It is expected that applicants will have at least a first class honours or a good upper second class degree in a subject relevant to their research proposal.
The Department of Information Science<http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/dis/>, which has a thriving PhD community, will consider applications from all information science subject areas. However, it is particularly interested in receiving applications in the following areas:
* Value and impact of preservation activities in libraries
* Managing project knowledge
* Information behaviour
* Sex-role stereotyping of IT-related job characteristics in children’s books
* Provision of and access to consumer health information in England
* Ethical implications of recent and planned developments in intellectual property rights compliance measures
* An international evaluation of the ethical aspects of competitive intelligence
