You've heard about Donkey Libraries, Elephant Libraries and Camel
Libraries. Now hear about the Caterpillar Library!
Ian Stringer, a past chair of IFLA's Mobile Section who was recently
made an Honorary Fellow of CILIP for his services to mobile libraries at
home and abroad, will be sharing his experience of the IFLA funded
Caterpillar Project in South Africa, Burkino Faso and Ghana.
Caterpillar Book boxes have been designed to transport books to isolated
communities in Africa, often providing communities with the
only means of accessing books. Ian will speak about the pain and
anguish, pleasure and joy in getting books to 200,000 readers in remote
African areas.

ILIG Informals are not lectures; they are informal, but informative,
early evening meetings with a short talk on a theme of international
interest plus plenty of time for questions and networking. They are open
to all and absolutely free. Light refreshments are served which is why
we ask you to let us know you are coming by contacting us by 7th June.
We look forward to seeing you.
The International Library and Information Group is a special interest
group of CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information
Professionals, registered charity number 313014.
