Election night may be over, but the UK web Archive http://www.webarchive.org.uk/ukwa/ is busy conserving 2010 election related websites. These include blogs, news services, campaign groups and sites and maintained by political parties from all persuasions. Eventually they will form a separate collection on the website to supplement the existing 2005 General election collection. http://www.webarchive.org.uk/ukwa/collection/99035/page/1

A site created by Yale University to provide information about primary resources relating to slavery, abolition and emancipation held in Yale University. Although, intended for local researchers, its wealth of information has relevance
It includes links to digital collections of manuscripts, prints and photographs. The research section also includes guides to researching the topic. Some materials are only available in the local libraries.

It includes links to lesson plans, syllabi and online learning materials covering a range of scientific subjects. These are defined widely. They include life sciences, medicine, computer sciences, however there is also coverage of social science subjects such as geography, economics and educational technology. Each link has an added description of content.

Launched in 2009 its website provides free access to its blog and the full text of reports and working papers. Topics covered by this include: public service reform, finance of public services.
Magnificent Maps: Power Propaganda and Art

This website supports the latest exhibition at the British Library. In addition to visitor information, it also has some marvellous online features. These include interactive images of some historic maps including the Psalter world map and the Fra Mauro map with background information on their content and importance.
Also available is a curator's blog with images which currently show the setting up of the exhibition.
East Asia Image Collections

This site forms part of the Lafayette College Digital Library. It provides free access to over 1,000 images from the Skillman Library Special Collections. These comprise digitized photographs, negatives, postcards, and slides of colonial Taiwan (1900-1945) and occupied Japan (1947-52). Of key importance to historians are the Michael Lewis Taiwan postcards - 517 colonial-era (1895-1945) postcards from Japanese governed Taiwan, colonial era photographic albums which contain examples of propaganda promoting the benefits of Japanese colonial rule of Taiwan in 1938. Images show daily life and political events. The site may be searched or browsed. Copyright information is provided.
People's Feat in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945

New open access archive of materials from the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.
It aims to put on-line 200.000 archival files (about 100 million pages) from the Central Archives of the Ministry of Defence <http://www.rusarchives.ru/vedarh/camo/> and various other Russian military archives by December 2012.
The English language translation states that the site aims to highlight Russian military heroism. It therefore includes a database of listings of medals, awards. The other main feature - war documents includes documents related to war's operations: military orders, instructions, diaries, operational plans, reports, intelligence bulletins, directives, and maps of battles and military operations.There are some English language introductions from the main website address.

A fascinating blog being maintained throughout 2010 by Westminster Archives using an original manuscript held in their collections. Day by day follow the exploits of a 19 year old year-old wharf clerk from Pimlico. The blog contains comments on his daily life and political events. It includes some original images. Oil Spill crisis map

An interesting example of a citizen reporting tool maintained by the Louisiana Bucket brigade to report the extent and nature of the on-going BP oil spill incident off the coast of Louisiana. Look at posting s of the number and type of incidents on the online map and browse news feeds form other blogs and online news services reporting events. This is powered by Ushahidi which has been used in the past to report incidents of political violence. Examples on its website show ministering of the 2010 Sudan elections. http://www.ushahidi.com/

This quarterly academic title has now converted back files to open access. While the most recent issues are password protected for subscribers 12 months after publication they are now offered free. Topics covered include research on such topics as Innovative online learning systems, intelligent tutors, Educational software applications and games, and Simulation systems for education and training.
The Washington Post has relaunched its politics section.
