Managing projects is now a core role for many cultural and heritage
professionals but it can seem a daunting prospect. This one day course
introduces delegates to fundamental concepts and tools to enable them to
start managing small projects effectively and confidently. Identifying what
you want your project to achieve, getting to grips with the basics of
planning, implementing and monitoring your project including effective team
working – it’s all vitally important to make sure your limited time and
resources are used as efficiently as possible.
Who is for?
· This course is targeted at anyone who is new to managing projects
in museums, libraries, archives and the wider cultural heritage sector
Key Learning outcomes:
· Understanding when something is a project or not
· Awareness of core project planning techniques
· Ability to measure and monitor success of your project
· Being able to identify project phases and how they interrelate
· Ability to develop a project implementation plan
· Understanding how to draw a project to a successful conclusion
· Understanding how your own skills currently match those of a good
project manager
Trainer: Elizabeth Oxborrow-Cowan, Consultant Archivist. Elizabeth is a
consultant archivist and qualified management consultant. She advises on the
care and development of archive services in the UK to archivists, heritage
managers, senior decision-makers and policy bodies. She also undertakes
occasional projects outside the UK. Elizabeth is an experienced trainer in
archival skills and key management skills.
Price: £135 + VAT per delegate. Cost includes all papers, lunch and
