Contract: Fixed Term Contract (Up to one year)
Salary: £38,951 - £43,840 Grade: Grade K
Closing date for applications: 9:00am 15 June 2010
The JISC (Joint Information Systems Committee) is an exciting and influential organisation that provides leadership in the application of ICT within the further and higher education sectors. It specialises in providing services, advice and innovation funding to encourage the use of technology in teaching and learning, research and administration. This is an opportunity to work on cutting edge programmes in e-Research, e-Learning, Digital Libraries, shared systems and e-infrastructure services for universities and colleges. The posts are offered on fixed-term contracts for up to one year: Applications from those interested in undertaking a role on a secondment basis will be considered.
You should have knowledge of ICT in education and research and have experience of managing large and complex projects or programmes; be able to use your initiative and work well in creative teams and with a range of stakeholders within higher education, and in some cases commercial suppliers. You should have the ability to plan and implement programmes working through project holders and using methods that will achieve impact, considering technical, cultural change, policy and sustainability issues.
For all of the posts a knowledge of commissioning processes will be helpful; and for some of the roles experience in procurement is desirable. All of the programmes of work are exploratory, but this is to a greater or lesser degree. They aim to help universities and colleges use ICT to improve research, learning and administration.
Typical areas of work addressed in the programmes include e-assessment, e-portfolios, curriculum design, virtual research environments, Grid computing, cloud services, administration and information management systems, digital repositories, library systems and access and use of digital resources.
The posts can be based either at the University of Bristol or King’s College London, although the e-Learning post will be Bristol based.
Informal enquiries for all posts except the Programme Manager in e-learning can be made to Ms R Bruce, telephone 07841 951300 or 0203 006 6061, email [log in to unmask] .
