Dear Tlamelo
Look at the South African model, the African National Congress had
people with disabilities even though the move left the disability
originations dysfunctional (my opinion). Further more you can look at
individual panties manifestos on the role of People with disabilities, I
know Independent Democrats (ID) had one and Congress of the People
(COPE) was considering one. Feel free to check this parties in South
Africa.

Subject: Disabled people's participation in politics
Help Needed
A country in Africa called Botswana is going through interesting times.
It's political landscape is undergoing tremendous transformation. A new
political party has been formed – Botswana Movement for Democracy. I
am trying to influence this party to give people with disabilities a
significant role to play in line with the model used by the Youth League
and Woman’s League.
My motivation is that people with disabilities do not play any
significant role in Botswana’s politics. I believe that as political
parties design and debate policies, different interests (including
disabled people) are better placed to represent themselves.
The main task, however, is to give my colleagues convincing reasons
justifying such a proposal, as well as stating the role people with
disabilities will play in the party.
I have some thoughts, but I thought I should ask for ideas from list
members. I would highly appreciate your input in this regard.
Thank you
Tlamelo
