I've had a request from an MA student with an interest in monetary
crimes and particularly 'coin clipping' and forgery.
He says he's:
<<
drawing a blank when it comes to the classical epoch; I don't think I
have found a single academic article on Greek clipping (if there was
any), and nothing substantive on the Roman. Given the importance of
coinage to archaeology, I'm presuming I'm missing something, probably
because I'm not familiar with the discipline, and don't really know
where to look.
I'm hoping you could point me in the right direction. Do you know of any
texts (primary or secondary) on the subject? Is there a standard text on
classical monetary systems? Could you suggest somewhere to start
looking? Is there a journal of classical numismatics or suchlike I could
trawl through?
>>
Can anyone offer any help?
If so please respond to John Levin

Any help would be most appreciated.
Thanks
