Dear Jenny,
We currently use SHIC and Burning Issues(a mining related classification) but are in the process of amalgamating the two and only using SHIC in the future.
Best wishes

Hi Jenny,
We also use it for our local/social history collections and oral history, but not for other museum collections - ethnography, archaeology, numismatics. Our social history store is organised using the SHIC system too.
Best wishes,

Hi Jenny
We use it at Portsmouth city museums for the museum-side local history collection & some military and oral history - not for other collections (art, archaeology, natural history, archives)

Dear All,
We're currently restructuring and its got my looking at how we classify our collections. I like SHIC but how many people use it in other museum services?
Appreciate any thoughts as always.
