Metlink Monash PhD Research Scholarship 2010
RESEARCH IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT MARKET DEVELOPMENT
A full-time postgraduate scholarship is available for outstanding candidates to undertake research studies leading to the award of a PhD degree at the Institute of Transport Studies, Monash University, Australia. The scholarship is offered by Metlink, the partnership group of Melbourne’s train, tram and bus operators, in association with Monash University.
Project Focus
The successful applicant will conduct research relating to existing and potential public transport markets in Melbourne. The research will focus on ways to increase public transport usage and can have particular regard to ways of understanding the drivers of patronage or the role of lifestyle transitions in public transport use or consideration of agglomeration economies associated with public transport and urban development.
The research offers the opportunity to gain a PhD in a leading edge field of direct relevance to the future of transport in Victoria. The student will be based at the Institute of Transport Studies at Monash University, Clayton Campus in a lively and vibrant research environment.

•Annual tax free stipend of $Aust 25,000 per annum for three years

WHO SHOULD APPLY?
Applicants should have, or expect to have, a H1/2A Honors Degree or a Masters Degree with demonstrated research potential in fields of relevance to the project. Academic or professional experience of direct relevance to the project area will be of advantage to applicants. Applicants should be Australian citizens or have permanent residency in Australia or New Zealand.
