Hi Nicole,
Thanks for your posting.... rest assured my original comment was not personal ;-)
I think the concept that has been described very eloquently in this series of postings is an admirable one and one that should be encouraged, when appropriate. I just have a personal aversion to words being made up when there are perfectly good ones that do the job. In my mind, what is being described is a conference in the true sense of the word, with the caveat that the content is being delegate-led rather than being pre-arranged.... this could quite easily be described in the meeting (or should that be conference?) blurb.
Now, please don't get me started on "webinar"......
Hope the "unconference" goes well!
Regards,
Eldin.

Oh dear, what have I started :) I am glad our unconference generated so
much discussion though.
I guess our unconference is participant-driven in so far as we will
brainstorm topics at the beginning and leave the actual workshop content
open to participants' suggestions or even their suggested case studies.
At the same time we felt that a relatively new and 'technical' topic such
as cloud computing would need a few introductions and pointers from
experts in the field.
The schedule is flexible and the chairs are asked to participate and
contribute their expertise, answer questions where possible and help find
solutions rather than lead in any structured way.
What we are looking for is an exchange of ideas, worries and experiences
re: the storage of information in the cloud.
The 'conference schedule' is a typo - being generally rather fast than
paying attention to detail but it is probably fair to say that our
particular unconference is more of a hybrid in that it dares not to go
without structure completely.
That said, what is in a name? It should be the content that matters :)
