Mine was a version shaped for its purpose. I couldn't use the war
chariots of Lydia, Lydia coming a few thousand years later in that
world's timeline. Not that I think I need apologise for introducing
some sweet young adults to Sappho. Maybe a few will move on to the
genuine bronze and war chariots later on.
I personally like best the translations that respect the elisions,
like Diane Rayor's and Anne Carson's.
