Dear MeCCSA list member,
You may or may not be aware that Times Higher Education magazine recently launched #loveHE - a campaign to champion higher education, from inside and outside the sector. It is about celebrating universities at a time when they are not as high on the list of public priorities as we think they should be (more details here: www.timeshighereducation.co.uk<http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk>/loveHE<http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/loveHE> ).
As part of the campaign, we are running a filmmaking competition for students and we're very much hoping that you might be able to tell your students about it. I've attached a poster to this email.
The brief:
Higher education students are being invited to make a film (of no more than five minutes) about why higher education should be celebrated and appreciated - not only by students, but also by society as a whole.
What's in it for students:
The winning film will be shown to more than 1,000 people from across the sector at the Times Higher Education Awards this autumn at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. The winning team will also receive two free tickets to the event. The competition is backed by the National Union of Students.
How it works:
Send entries to Times Higher Education (email to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> or post to Rebecca Attwood, Deputy News Editor, Times Higher Education, 26, Red Lion Square, London WC1R 4HQ) in a format accepted by YouTube. Entries will be uploaded onto Times Higher Education's #loveHE YouTube channel. We'll pick our favourite each month and the best entries will be judged by a panel of experts ahead of the awards ceremony in the autumn. The final deadline will be announced later in the year (we are reluctant to set a deadline at this stage because we know from past experience that this tends to result in all entries arriving at the last minute and we hope to be able to add new content to the YouTube channel as entries arrive). Check the magazine orwww.timeshighereducation.co.uk<http://orwww.timeshighereducation.co.uk>/loveHE<http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/loveHE> for updates.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries.
Best wishes,
Rebecca
