Hi all (& apologies for the x-posting),
The JISC in the UK have funded a project to build an e-resource statistics usage reporting tool - since this is something mentioned regularly as a necessity to help understand which of the resources that are being paid for are actually being used. The project is called Project RAPTOR (don't ask...). The aim of the project is to build an extensible reporting tool that can initially consume Shibboleth IdP & EZproxy logs and allow unified presentation of usage statistics in an easy-to-use visual manner.
So, as a part of the project, we've constructed a short survey aimed at finding out how people currently do this kind of usage reporting when required, and what they want/need from a shiny new tool to do this.
The survey is available at https://iam.cf.ac.uk/limesurvey/index.php?sid=66613 and consists of 30 questions, and should take maybe half an hour to fill out, including thinking time. The survey will be available for 2 weeks from today, so until the end of May 5th.
The project's website is available at http://iam.cf.ac.uk/RAPTOR (the website is a little bare at the moment, more content will be appearing soon).
Note that this survey is aimed at people within your organisation that would be tasked with producing usage stats - that might be a librarian who is the principal owner of stats, the techie looking after the software, or someone somewhere in between. If that sounds like you, we'd appreciate it if you could take the time to fill out the survey. If it sounds like someone you know, please forward this request onto them for their consideration...
If you have any questions, or comments that don't fit within the survey questions, please feel free to contact me.
Best Regards,
Rhys.
