GIS Project Manager
There is increasing usage of GIS (Geographical Information Systems) technology within the business teams. This has fuelled an increase in the volumes of data being demanded by GIS users. This data has grown over the years from being the preserve of a few dedicated followers of GIS, to now becoming an integral part of the operating datasets that my client relies on (eg CRS, GDE mapping). The large data growth being witnessed is causing numerous problems in terms of disk space, data security and quality assurance. Consequently this data needs to be managed properly in a central geo-database that can handle the spatial nature of the data and it's increasing volume.
The business requirement is to deploy ArcGIS Server (SDE) which is the segment standard for geospatial data management.
Project Objectives
Apply the GIS data management strategy in support of local GIS data management strategies where a central geo database will be the repository for spatial data.
Deploy a shared GIS infrastructure in the European Mega Data Centre to initially support up to 25% of user base (50 concurrent users).
Leverage this infrastructure and database to enable the business to store their GIS data in a repository to save cost.
